“Cutting the amount of carbon that we emit into the atmosphere is not enough – we also need to take away that which has already been emitted,” says Pär Holmgren, famous Swedish meteorologist and environmental debater.
“We already have atmospheric concentrations of nearly 400 ppm, whereas we need to reach 350 ppm to avoid dangerous climate change. When I am on tour with my electric moped, trying to raise consciousness around the climate issue, I often mention Biorecro and the BECCS technology as one of the solutions that will help us overcome the environmental challenge that we face today.”
As a meteorologist, Pär Holmgren has been a weatherman in Swedish television for many years, but lately his focus has shifted more and more to spreading knowledge about environmental problems by writing books, holding talks and making tours around the nation. He was recently elected Honorary Doctor at Uppsala University, an institution at which he also does some teaching.
Moreover, he has received Disapriset, the environmental prize of the Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers, and was nominated for Augustpriset, a Swedish literary prize of distinction. More information about Mr. Holmgren is available at his website: www.parholmgren.se.
