Our Projects

Biorecro together with our partners have planned and designed BECCS projects in several places around the world. Projects are being initiated on the European continent as well as in North America. In 2008, we also started planning for a project in Sweden. The Swedish project is intended to be a small research project in the Skåne region linked to biogas production.

There are a large number of experiments with carbon dioxide storage in the world. Biorecro's projects have come further than those of most other actors. This is largely due to Biorecro working with established technologies, while other projects use technologies that are not yet fully developed. Another contributing factor is that projects drawing on biomass are smaller in size compared with the enormous storage projects that fossil industries are working with. This means that project start-up times are shorter.

Those of our projects which have come the furthest are now in the process of drilling the very deep boreholes needed for storage. During 2010 and 2011, this work will lead up to the first metric ton of carbon dioxide being stored in a BECCS process.
